The Stick Chair is constructed from 20mm square planed American white oak cut to length. These ʻsticksʼ are drilled and threaded like beads onto threaded steel rods. Stainless steel nuts are tightened to hold the elements in compression generating friction at each junction which prevents movement. There is no glue or other fixing. The chair was designed and made by Richard as a one-off, however the same components have generated a number of related designs: stools, beds, tables and so on, all members of the Stick Furniture family and all as yet unbuilt.
